black dog tales, pt. 1

Filed under: This N' That — Elizabeth @ 11:13 am

For those of you not in the know, Daleth’s dog, Shock, is based on various and sundry legends of ghostly black dogs. Many such pooches are found in European folklore, namely that of the British Isles, but some tales have spread to this side of the pond. Like this one, found on S. E. Schlosser’s grand American Folklore site.

It’s funny how the black dog in this story has changed from the hulky and brooding variety to the “little” and “cute fellow” sort.

I’d also like to point out that Shock’s bad side only comes out if you mess around with his master.

More black dog tales as I find ‘em.
