the chemistry set at nycc

Filed under: Announcements, Shows, Comics — Administrator @ 3:10 pm

The New York Comic Con is upon us, and I’ll be joining in the running around with my peeps from the Chemistry Set, who will be at A239 in Artist Alley.

We’re giving away a bunch of our stuff, so stop by!

Best bet for catching Leland is the afterparties, so keep an eye on Heidi for all those details.

New York City, NY – Webcomics collective The Chemistry Set is please to announce that it will be displaying at the 2007 New York Comicon taking place at the Javits Center in New York City on February 23rd through February 25th at booth A239 in the Artist Alley.

The Chemistry Set members scheduled for attending New York ComicCon are: Neil Kleid and Kevin Colden of Todt Hill, Vito Delsante of Stuck, Steven Goldman of Styx Taxi, Elizabeth Genco of Scheherazade and Hyeondo Park of Come The Dawn. There will be copies of the group’s various print comic work, as well as review copies of the webcomics online. Stop by the booth for specific hours for each creator.

The Chemistry Set is thrilled to announce that there will also be a grand prize giveaway of a complete set of print comics work by all members of the collective – numbering over 35 single issues, graphic novels and even a Come The Dawn art print from Hyeondo Park. Entry details will be at our booth, and the winner will be announced after the convention at chemsetcomics.com.

“Stop by The Chemistry Set’s table at the New York Comic-Con and you could win a cornucopia of comics, minicomics and zines from every contributor on the site!” said Steven Goldman, writer of Styx Taxi, which appears each Thursday. “From urban fantasy to politics, from autobiography to bear suits, from art comics to crazy papers, you couldn’t get more entertainment without taking one of them home.”

THE CHEMISTRY SET is a collective of creators bonded together to bring free independent comics to the masses. Every day at www.chemsetcomics.com, readers will be treated to new comics by some of the hottest and most talented up-and-coming creators in the medium. Counting two Xeric Award winners and over 30 years of comics writing experience between the group, members of The Chemistry Set have written for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, Puffin Graphics, Random House, NBM Publishing, Oni Press, SLG Publishing and many more. Observe the chemistry between writers, artists, and across teams as we combine individual creative elements to build dynamic compounds through the art and science of collaboration. The readers will be part of the equation as well, with the ability to comment on the comics as the stories progress. Join us at THE CHEMISTRY SET, and be part of the experiment.

spx

Yes, we’ll be at SPX this year… as attendees. Crazy! We’ll be honest: we just got tired of shlepping our stuff hither and yon. And four hand-made comics/chapbooks is enough for me in less-than-one-year, thank you very much.

That said, I will, in fact, have some fun promo items for SCHEHERAZADE. But more on that later.

We’ll be there Saturday on into Sunday, so do look for us on the floor and at the bar.

little red cap was never quite like this

MoCCA 2006 finds us skipping through the urban jungle with a basket full of goodies:

RED

That’s a cover compliments of the fabulous Miss Lasko-Gross. Check out a sample of Kevin Colden’s sweet interiors here, or order a copy for yourself here.

May all your wanderings through the forest leave you safe and sound.

con breakdown

Filed under: Shows — Elizabeth @ 10:47 pm

As everyone who follows comics knows by now, NYCC was a rousing success or rousingly chaotic, depending on who you ask. We thought it was very much both. Thanks to everyone who came by the table to check out our work and chat — we love you guys!

In a few days or so, I’ll post a page or two from our special NYCC chapbook, NIGHTVISIT, and add it to the order page.

The best thing about cons is that they’re high on energy and inspiration. We’re ready to get down to work. (Well, okay, maybe after we move.)

Thanks again, everyone.

almost there!

Filed under: Shows — Elizabeth @ 12:43 am

The fur is flying and tensions are running high (that’s an adrenaline high, not a crabby high, mind you) in our house as NYCC looms. Only a few more days.

Trying to find a home at the same time as getting our collective act together was a real drag. But! We got one, so I daresay we can’t complain.

Do come by if you’re going to the con. I’ll probably have a candy dish after all…

nycc ahoy!

Filed under: Announcements, Shows, Comics — Elizabeth @ 7:23 pm

Yes, we’re going to be at the NYCC, armed with pitches, buttons, good cheer, and, in lieu of the second anthology I’d hoped to have together by now, a couple of ashcans that are all Genco/Purvis action, all the time.

Of course, we’ll also have WEIRD SISTERs, PLATFORMs, 22 PORTRAITSes, all of Leland’s goodies (VOX, PUBO, SUSPENDED IN LANGUAGE), and, well, us.

And a big sign. And perhaps a candy dish if there’s room.

Check out the NYCC website for the exhibitor list, and, oh my gosh, Artist’s Alley. Holy smokes! I’ll try not to gush over DeMatteis. Could be tough.

Anyway, I’ll be posting a little more often here as we get closer to the show. For now, remember that our table is AA65. And do say hi, if you’re going!

sell-out!

Filed under: News, Shows, Comics — Elizabeth @ 8:22 pm

That’d be us. As in, all copies of WEIRD SISTER that we brought to SPX were gone by the end of Sunday. Actually, they were half-gone on Friday night. Which had me a little worried, I might add. But it all worked out.

SPX was a blast. Next up, it’s that show you keep hearing about, the brand-spankin’ new New York Comic-Con. We’ve got a table reserved and I have a second anthology up my sleeve, a little number I like to call GHOST TOWN. Because, you know, New York City is just that.

Now all I have to do is write the stories… heh.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table this weekend, whether you bought the book or not. ‘Twas lovely to see everyone.

Our books are packed and we’re off to the show!. Stop by table 68 in Versailles if you’re going. Hope to see you there!
